A food truck holiday party is an easy way to make this year feel different from the last five.
Most companies still host one. In 2024, 64% of companies surveyed by Challenger, Gray & Christmas said they were throwing a holiday party. A lot of those parties look alike. A catered buffet in the conference room, or a dinner at a banquet hall. Nothing stands out, so nobody remembers the party by February.
A food truck gives the party a centerpiece. The food is cooked to order right in front of everyone, and people have a reason to come out, watch it being made, and spend time together.
What a food truck holiday party looks like
Most are held at the office, usually toward the end of the workday. The truck parks in your lot close to the building. Plenty of people carry their food back inside to eat with coworkers, the same way office food truck lunches run through the winter.

Holding the party offsite? Ask the venue whether a truck can park on site. Many hotels and high-rise event spaces can't fit one, which we cover in food trucks over traditional catering.
Does it work in the cold?
Yes. A food truck is a full kitchen with its own generator and water, so cold weather doesn't slow it down.
The planning is mostly about your team. A lunchtime party gets the warmest part of the day, and parking the truck near the door keeps the walk short. Utah gets snow and Dallas gets the occasional ice storm, so ask about a backup plan when you book. With 200+ vetted trucks in our network, we can send a different truck or move the date.
Winter menus that work
December is comfort food season. Smoked brisket, ramen, wood-fired pizza and mac and cheese are all popular picks this time of year.

A second truck for dessert or hot drinks keeps people around for longer. Waffles, crepes, or hot chocolate from a coffee truck all fit the season.
Paying for the food
Most companies cover the food upfront, since the party is a thank-you to the team. It also keeps the line moving, because nobody stops to pay at the window. Our guide to food truck catering for 150 people shows how many people one truck can serve that way.
Working with a set budget, vouchers give each person a set meal and keep the total predictable. The food truck catering cost guide covers what goes into the quote.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can food trucks serve in cold weather?
Yes. Trucks run on their own generator and water, so winter service works the same as any other time of year.
Can a food truck serve inside our building?
No. Trucks serve from a parking lot or loading area. Most offices park the truck near an entrance so it's a short walk.
How early should we book a food truck holiday party?
Three to four weeks is the standard lead time. December fills faster, so earlier is safer.
