Hello everyone, we are The Hungry Calypso. Our names are Ray and Lina. We have worked professionally in the business world worldwide. Lina, my wife, has been a great teacher and even owned a Dress Couture establishment in Beirut, Lebanon. Currently, I am an adjunct lecturer at the University of Utah. However, deep down, we wanted to do something together—adventurous, mouthwatering, and involving flavorful-packed food while serving people. Lina is a culinary powerhouse straight from Lebanon, and she adds a magical touch in the kitchen. We have always loved gathering around food because it brought people together, which prompted this idea to share our humble gastronomic expertise by providing real, authentic street cuisines from different parts of the world. Together, we wanted to bring a taste of our homelands (Lebanon and Palestine) to Utah. So, we did something bold: we traded in our professions for a spatula, left what we were doing behind, and hit the road in the coolest and boldest food truck, bursting with the rich aromas of sizzling halal proteins, vegan choices, spices, and slow-cooked perfection. Our mobile kitchen isn't just about serving meals—it's about sharing stories, traditions, hospitality, and the kind of food that makes one close their eyes and savor every bite. Before we knew it, our food truck became the heartbeat of the neighborhood. People lined up, not just for my legendary Chopped Cheese and Lina’s legendary shawarma and creamy hummus, but for the warmth and joy that came with preparing and cooking every meal and individual item on the menu. Strangers became friends, conversations flowed as freely as the tahini, the creamy garlic sauce, the buttery hummus, and the special fries sauce. Our dream of bringing people together through food became a reality. For Lina and me, we hope to continue creating a delicious adventure, one bite at a time. In our native tongues, we say "Ahlan wa Sahlan wa Tekrum Oyonkun" (Welcome. For your eyes, we are at your service).
